Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)

The ankle brachial index is the ratio of ankle systolic blood pressure relative to brachial systolic blood pressure. ABI correlates well with the degree of stenosis in lower extremity arteries, and is widely used to assess peripheral arterial disease. 4 blood pressure cuffs are attached to your arms and legs and some ECG dots will be applied to your chest. Your blood pressure and ECG heart rhythm will be recorded simultaneously. This procedure takes approximately 15 minutes and will be added to any cardiac consultation.
