Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor
If you have problems with your blood pressure your doctor may ask for a 24 hour blood pressure monitor which will record the changes in your blood pressure throughout the day. A blood pressure cuff will be attached to your upper arm which is connected to a small monitor. Throughout the day and night the blood pressure cuff will inflate regularly to record your blood pressure so that there is extended information on your blood pressure variability. It will take approximately 15 minutes to apply and you will need to return the following day to have it removed. The report will then be discussed with you by your doctor.
Patient prep:
You will need to shower before you come as you will not be able to shower with the BP monitor on. Wear a 2 piece outfit with a loose fitting short sleeved shirt or top. You will need to return the next day to have the monitor removed.
